New Special Representative for Crown-Indigenous Relations Appointed

Indigenous Leader to Provide Ministerial Advice

Ottawa, Ontario - Today, the Honorable Marc Miller, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, announced the appointment of Jennifer Moore Rattray as a Ministerial Special Representative. Ms. Moore Rattray will provide advice to the Minister on a range of issues related to Crown-Indigenous relations, with a particular focus on reconciliation and economic development.

Ms. Moore Rattray is a member of the Peepeekisis First Nation in Saskatchewan and has extensive experience working in Indigenous communities. She has held senior positions in both the federal and provincial governments, and currently serves as the CEO of the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies. She is also the Chair of the Indigenous Advisory Council for the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.

In her new role, Ms. Moore Rattray will work closely with Minister Miller to advance the government's agenda on Crown-Indigenous relations. She will provide advice on a wide range of issues, including land claims, treaty rights, economic development, and education. She will also work to strengthen relationships between the federal government and Indigenous communities.

The appointment of Ms. Moore Rattray is a significant step forward in the government's commitment to reconciliation. Her experience and expertise will be invaluable as the government works to build a better future for Indigenous peoples in Canada.
